About Me:
Mr. Fernandez is a Tampa native and returned home in 2004 with his wife and three children. Since his return, he has been teaching Science courses in both Hillsborough County Schools and Charter Schools. During these 8 years of teaching, Mr. Fernandez has focused on “hands-on” science, the relation of science to technology, technological skills appropriate in science, , critical thinking skills, and real life applications of the scientific method. He was awarded a Hillsborough Teacher of Excellence award in 2007/2008 school year. Mr. Fernandez has spent most of his adult life focused on biology, ecology, agriculture, development and education. He is interested in systems development / interactions and human interactions with natural systems. From 1980 to present, he has participated in numerous United Nations Environmental Program ( UNEP) Conventions and programs including the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, Convention on Biological Diversity and The Species Survival Commission (Crocodile Specialist Group). He has participated in the formation of conservation and development programs in Honduras, Belize, Mexico and other parts of the world Eric Fernandez holds a bachelors degree in Zoology with a minor in Anthropology and a Masters degree in Conservation, Management and Access to Faunal and Floral Resources. He has attained the European Union Certification of Advanced Studies and is presently working towards completion of his doctoral dissertation in a UNEP supported program in Spain.
